The Midfall Feast --
The gusty air shakes
The evergreen silhouettes
Above the solitary peaks.
The running clouds
Are gathering around
The bright moon's disc --
The only staunch company he's got.
The early morning breeze
Gropes his face and chest
With its chilly lips,
Keeping him company again!
Some call him a man who drinks
With the flies. . . I have to put them right.
This Midfall binge all flies are utterly dead--
This man's boon companions are all
The challenging elements on earth!
Make it mulled cider, my friend! The leaves are falling here but I see you will have pine needles falling. 'Love the smell. You awaken the senses, Alexander.
Some wildly entertaining wording going on that I love. Around the parts where I come from it is called Oktoberfest. A beer binge like no other. I may have met the guy you were referring to when I was in the hospital for five weeks. He was about 15. Apparently in the hospital welfare ward like I was for some kind of a mental condition. Said something about he went to Oktoberfest and never returned home.
Some fine description here of how nature "touches" us, especially in autumn. You might rethink the term "midfall", its confusing if not misleading. . . ? !
