Ice Cream is suitable to the palate, regardless of the weather.
Ice Cream in Winter
It’s 10:59 at night.
Temperatures outside
remain at subzero,
and I’m craving ice cream—
the vanilla kind.
My body temperature
stays a constant 98.6°,
so ice cream is okay.
I’m searching the cabinet
for a crunchy cone—
the big kind—
one of those three scoopers.
Okay. It’s filled to the brim.
My recliner makes it
enjoyable all the more.
Sweet, cold vanilla
fills my mouth,
while contentment
fills my soul.
Guilt sets in,
but it’s only fleeting.
My mind mumbles it away,
as my mouth delights
in that last bite
of crunchy cone
filled with melted ecstasy.

David this was such fun, and made me laugh! Ice cream is still one of those foods that make us...even as adults feel guilty...Lets enjoy the odd indulgence...and keep our yearnings in perspective...In these Winter months I crave sweet things too where normally I have more of a 'savoury tooth'...

The "I scream for ice cream" syndrome described perfectly. Don't you know that it's bad to eat before you go to bed? And especially bad to eat dairy products?
