Trying to imagine the peace that a dear friend who departed this life today is now experiencing.

As I sit here in my hotel room, All is calm . . . Peaceful. The scene beyond my window Bursts with October’s hues. All is still . . . Tranquil. The deep blue waters lie motionless. All are smooth . . . Waveless. I just received a call That a dear friend has passed. I am quiet . . . Reflecting. I shall remember this place of beauty And imagine him seated On the pinnacle of a mountain Whose splendor cannot be equaled. ©️2019 By David Lee Thompson

I will settle for nothingness with all pain and suffering gone.

Lake Placid in New York State brings up thoughts of several horror movies using that place as a backdrop. I'm glad that you took the other view, the one peaceful and tranquil with only the danger of icy winter to come.

Excellent!
It was fitting that you placed your thoughts on paper at this moment in time. I recall a favorite song that was playing on the plane the time my grandmother died. Every time I hear that song, I think of her. It's a comforting fond memory with vision of that plane ride.
You will probably never forget where you were on the lake or the poem that you wrote. It's a fine tribute to your friend. Amen
