Boon - Coon - Dune - Goon - June - Loon - Moon - Noon - Rune - Soon - Tune...

How many of these rhyming words did I use? Who cares? Will there be a test? It happens every night, twenty-four-seven, out in the West.

MOONACY

Copyright: 5/15/07 – Tom Hyland

The Moon affects the tides, both Ebb and Neap -
And attracts us all, e'en in our Sleep!
Some are excited, some subdued… you See,
While others are labeled with Lunacy!

Is there really a Man in the Moon?
Or is it just a silly Cartoon?
Is it really made of Green Cheese?
Do you ever ponder questions like These?

Many song titles have captured our Hearts,
Let’s review a few… afore we leave these parts:
Shine on Harvest Moon, Blue Moon Over Kentucky,
By the Light of the Silvery Moon, oft’ we get Plucky!

Blue Moon… I Saw You Standing Alone,
Whilst Olde Mother Hubbard got her dog a Bone!
The Cat’s in the Cradle, and the Silver Spoon,
Little Boy Blue, and the Man in the Moon!

The Rise of the Ocean, the Fall of the Sea,
Captains Courageous, plotting a course for you and for Me.
The Moon and the Stars guide them at Night,
Bringing things from the Orient, which Sparkle and Delight!

If someone’s left on an Isle… we say they’re Marooned.
If another Drops his Pants… then you got MOONED!
When the Sun blocks out the Moon, it’s a Lunar Eclipse,
Looney Tunes, Fairy Tales, Songs and such… just Quips?

Or are they examples of MOONACY… slipt from our Lips?
Ideas that joggle, and boggle the mind… seeds or Pips?
Yes, the Moon is a Power to be reckoned With,
And can be Pondered better after a Quart… or even a FIFTH!

No, no, Dear One… t’was Sober when I penned these Words,
Like a Gaggle of Cattle, or a Horde of Herds!
Some flow softly, like Rays from the Moon, in a Blue Lagoon,
Whilst others, more stubborn, have to be cut, or Pruned!

Now, as the Moon rises, from the East, not unlike Yeast,
Slowly, but Surely, it will reach its Crest,
Then Wane and Set, somewhere way out West,
Day is Done… TAPS are played… tho’ I done my Best!

J-PAL ……. Tom.

I mooned my wife and dogs while singing Moon River last night - this moonacy truly is powerful! And I love that picture.
