1958/59 I was serving in the WRAF, this is a memory from one of our 'Dance' nights at our Airmans' club.
Rockin’ and Rollin’
A continuous dance, arranged by two airmen, Plotting and scheming, they’d made a bet, That they would wear me out, if I could not take, dancing all evening without any break; they planned to dance me right off my feet, working together, not such a hard feat! They whirled me and twirled me all over the room to ‘Chantilly Lace, Rockin’ Robin’ and other such tunes, they kept me going, an endurance test, Each cutting in, to give the other a rest; Toward the end of the evening, they begged me "Please, can we stop now, we are both on our knees;" in flared skirt and high heels, still fresh as a daisy, I took pity on them, the poor lads weren’t so lazy, they collapsed in a heap, and I carried on Rockin’ and Rollin’ till the evening was gone.
