The Elephants Nose

It seems the elephant was fated
To have a nose that was elongated,
Though the crocodile was implicated
And accused of having mutilated
The elephants nose, he was vindicated
Of that crime, and exonerated
For the tale was most exaggerated.
It was the Creator who had advocated
A long nose that would be animated
For the plan that he had formulated
As the elephant he had designated
Would be a creature to be venerated
So on creating now he concentrated
A nose that could not be emulated.
The baby elephant is fascinated
And unequivocally captivated
By the way his nose is operated
Like a rubber hose it’s circulated
Through the air, as he has contemplated
That it cannot be confiscated
And his funny antics are tolerated
By his elders who have been educated
And who long ago had graduated
In the ways their nose gesticulated
Whenever they were aggravated
Or even slightly irritated.
It’s operation is not complicated,
For the lack of hands it compensated
And at bath time it participated
So all would end up saturated
Or better still, have their throats lubricated
While their temperature is regulated.
Their displeasure can be demonstrated
By their noses being elevated
Or otherwise manipulated
And another’s behaviour moderated
By the fact he’s been intimidated
By the noise that has been generated
And has loudly emanated.
Affection too is intimated
with caresses, by his nose facilitated
to friends and family affiliated
or with others he is associated
in group therapy they participated
in sadness all commiserated
and by all their nose is appreciated.
so by us they should be congratulated
The elephants nose is to be celebrated.
