Beautifully expressed. If it could only be so. Unfortunately, the hierarchical system we live under demands that there is a large “slave” class that works for the benefit of the rulers (praised as entrepreneurs and capitalists). Back in the bad old days, laborers… Often the latest off the boat… Were forced to work dawn till dusk seven days a week with only time off for church because the church helped keep their anger under control and under the thumb of the bosses. Labor Day was inaugurated for the purpose of giving hard-working people one day off from this drudgery.
Those in the fast food industry to are now working for a salary that puts them under the poverty line without benefits, are all working on Labor Day so that the rest of the people who are off and stop by and grab a bite to eat. Let's face it, most workers would rather not be working at what they are doing. They are just making money to try to survive or get ahead.
