Some of our Australian Birds

Bush Memories

Bell birds chiming in the bush, with their tinkling sound,
Laughing kookaburra s in the trees joing in around
Blue smoke drifting gently up towards the sky,
From a campfire in the scrub, with a tent just nearby.

Memories of the Australian bush linger long and deep,
Such great days of youth, in my mind I keep,
The sunlight, warming through the trees in the early morn,
The cawing of a lonely crow, sounding all forlorn.

I remember fondly days spent in the mountain range,
They were days of happiness in the bush terrain,
Surrounded there by natures wealth, with beauty all around,
How could one but marvel at God’s creative hand.

Tall trees there on every hand, rise to greet the eye,
Black but, mountain ash, and cedar growing oh so high,
With stringy bark, and silver top, standing side by side,
A paradise for calling bird as from bough to bough they glide.

Rosellas fyling through the bush with their colours bright,
Calling loudly to each other, make a pretty sight,
Grey thrush whistling softly strike a quiete sound
While the top not pigeons whirring wings, lift them from the ground.

I love our native birdlife of the great Australian bush,
The sound of nature calling, far from the cities rush
Too many birds to mention Here in just a line or two,
I trust I’ve got your interest by naming just a few.
