Rain Forest is written about the Bunya Mountains in Queensland between Dalby and Kingaroy. A wonderful National Park and a glorious place to visit.
Rain Forest.
Across the clearing with it`s carpet of verdant green,
Is rhe edge of the rain forest, its border marked out so neat and clean
So it looks from a distance at least, until one gets near,
And can see the tangle of growth, hiding the trees from viewas you peer,
Into the cool shadowy depths of a small winding trackthat quickly disappears.
As you enter the track sunlight is swiftly gone,
Quickly replaced by a dimly lit shadow land alone,
Where muted sounds of animals and birds are quietly heard,
Deeply in the sepths of growth, somewhere echoing on.
'A cool moist breeze moves through the space while moisture drips from trees in its alloted place.
A satin bowerbird is seen fussily building his mounded nest,
Placing anything of blue where it can be shown off best,
Scrub turkeys foraging for scraps quarrel noisely around,
Chasing each other with awkward jumps and bounds,
Smaller birds in high trees make pleasing calls and sounds.
The odd cedar here and there spears upwards to the sky,
Spared from the loggers axe that took its toll in years gone by,
Bunya pines also take their place standing straight and tall,
Adding to the canopy of green, that over shadows all
Deep in the gully a fresh flowing stream with a rock pool and waterfall.
High in the Bunya ranges the rain forest I love to see,
With its beauty and its granduar a wonderful place to be,
Its unspoiled natural bushland, rare places to behold,
A quiet retreat with nature where one can refresh the soul,

Sounds like a place I would like to surround myself with. Thanks for the great images that I can now place in my mind. Great write!
