Peach sweet ripe sky, reflects on a mellifluous road shadows dare not cast a slithering darken shade wheel ruts hold cream yellow stagnant puddles between raised high ground of middle red hue pine's stand roadside as sentinels with pointed swords ever fearing to sully the honey lane with drop needles moss meanders but never enters the travelers trail nestling under the sheltered shade of roadside pines
Noon passes and the day grows long with the setting sun bark skeletons come forth and cast a gloom presence their dark tendrils reaching far across the golden road bear branches dare where pines hesitated to tread casting filigree softly they caress the golden warm earth evening's song takes hold, when sky purple highlights bloom night croaker's invite the sentinels to come forth, lo' do battle defend your golden lady against the Slough of night shades
In cooling evening starlight before the luminous moon rise on the winds of twilight, evergreens show their many spikes gaining power over the bare bark warriors of quagmire marsh the moon breaches zenith coming to aid and defends the lane a mighty battle is waged until pitch-dark before the dawn at cockcrow evergreens know they have stood fast in the night that noonday sun will again banish the dark marsh specters and the honey golden traveling lady will shine into the distance
Cheryl, you just wipe me out with your beautiful word flow. After I finish one of these beautiful poems I feel like I have digested a hodgepodge of peaches and kumquats and ripe strawberries covered with whipped cream, in other words it satisfies me. Kumquats?
