Pirate Ship?

Not a mystery in the classical sense, but to me it is a mystery still...

Poem Artwork

Pirate Ship…?

On the beach today,

I spied this ship of unknown origin,

Could she be that of a pirate ship?

Or a three master from modern times?

I prefer to think she was a pirate ship,

Sailing within sight of land, she did,

For no more than a few minutes,

Out of a fog bank she came,

No I am not lying, not being lame…

She definitely had three masts,

And running very little sail, I think,

She was so far away; even my telephoto was to its brink,

She stayed for such a short time, like trying to find out where she was,

Wish I had my binoculars, I will in the future, always on my mind…

Did I actually see that pirate flag on her center mast?

Or was it the light and the distance playing tricks on me,

Either way, I know this may be the absolutely last,

That I get to see of her, as she sailed over the horizon,

Out of my view, going to plunder some other ship, much more new…

Ahoy, Matey! Could be an old pirate ship that was caught in the Bermuda Triangle, and has now escaped somehow. Guard ye valuables well tonight, Laddie, the dreaded pirates are on the prowl.
