Hey, hey, watch the video on the site at the end...PEACE all...

Poem Artwork

I snorted coke & speed,

Uppers to awaken,

Downers to sleep,

Acid just to get further out,

Wanted to meet God or just about…

I’d walk the streets,

Smoking a joint,

Flaunt that bone with no fear,

Smoke it in front of “the man,”

I was going to live forever,

Then even 30 seemed far away,

That point was abundantly clear…

Here I am in my mid-fifties,

Hard to believe I lasted,

Been quite sometime since last blasted,

I never anymore drink, and rarely get high,

I know I did all that and more,

And now I can only wonder, quite frankly, why?

If I'd known I'd get to be this old, I'd have done more drugs.

How well said, yet leaving out all the drugs it was still a pretty wonderful time. Ah, when life was free and oh so much simpler...

Be always safe,

Karen

Five of the six I have to say
Were a bit too risky for my kind of play
A bit of the smoke I'd say I inhaled
And fortunately never once found me jailed
We all do things crazy as part of our youth
Now some of us are satisfied with gin and vermouth

Welcome back. Patrick

many searching for God seek such substances, it is only when we realize it is not found there, but rather serves only as distraction from the truth, can we find what we are seeking

Hi Ed, At least you weren't a wannabe! A lot of things we look back at some things we did and wonder why. Sometimes the only answer I can come up with is "Because!"

Take good care of you...

Lil'brother, don't panic, bad news never die and PeeWee said that you were the big one in the family despite Ma protest. Tiger Lily seems to agree with Chicago Mutt but I, yer ole brother thinks yo deserve another joint and another day!

some hippies used drugs, and some didn't, we just marched to our own drum, some grew and canned their own food, and some didn't, we just marched to our own drum. for some that march did take the marcher into paths not so likely to be taken today, we just marched to our own drum, and for some; we are still marching, wherever that march may take

Took you this long to figure it out? LOL Why do we do half the things we do when younger? Escape? Rebellion? Perhaps a bit of both? A thousand miracles we survived ... and we have. Thank God. Well done, Ed.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
