...Pictured is the Memorial for the four killed at Kent State...

Poem Artwork

They were there to protest,

Of the Vietnam war they did detest,

They were not there to hurt others,

But four were taken from their mothers…

It was a rally to of their opinions express,

But the soldiers came in full battle dress,

They were not their to cause distress,

But after an order to fire, they did so without finesse…

The pain & anguish does still exist,

Forty years after the protestors did of authority resist,

We cannot change what happened that fateful day,

But we can still mourn for the lives lost,

And for the families of those four we can still pray…

I noted this on the evening news as well. 40 years age today. Time flies and we're not always having fun. Patrick

Sad but true write...and if I may add one more thing...let us pray for the soldiers that day who had to live with what they done. They were taught to obey orders unquestioningly and sadly they did...

Quite a sad and tragic trip down Memory Lane, brother. Forty Years Ago - Wow. 1970 also marked the very first Earth Day - and look at the damned mess we've made now. We sadly don't seem to learn very much, at all.
