Too much baggage...?

Poem Artwork

How do we let go,

Of past memories that through us flow,

Father & Mother did this,

I did that, or worse,

Most things I’ve done were short, effectively terse…

I wish my brain were like a computer,

Just wipe clean my hard drive,

So that the rest of my life I could strive,

To live a new life without all that old baggage…

I have tried to do so,

Asked of God help to from the past grow,

Tried as I may to forgive the self,

Will I ever learn to of my past forgo…?

excellent verse Ed on a topic we all wish we had control over. Actually it's quite easy to forgive yourself, lets put it this way, don't beat your own ass regardless, others will do enough of that, take care

We are who we is
We is who we are
We aren't who we was
We was what we aren't

Give yourself a break and enjoy who you are now! Patrick

Yeah. But what would become of the struggle that produces much of what we write? Can you imagine a world without the beauty of the poet's struggle?

Peace my friend,
Dayvid

You can only get rid of past unwanted memories,by replacing them with new ones. Evrytime you begin to remember one immediately, begin a daydream of something you may want,or a trip you'd like to take etc. Do that every time, and you'll soon get rid of bad memories.

Oh, what a blessing it would be if we could leave much baggage behind. "Forgetting what lies behind, I press toward the mark of the high calling of God." -- apostle Paul

Well old buddy I don't think we need to let it all go, some we should retain for the good times, some we should keep in case we need to offer the experience to others and some we need to hold on to as reminders not to make the same mistakes again. Maybe we all need a U Store It for memories with a key that will open only when we want.

Somehow or another, I have been blessed to have a short memory. Well, I think I'm blessed. Yet, I long for some of the memories, to feel that love and warmth, but (sadly) my past is in the past. I like the idea of forgiving oneself and letting go of the past #%&.!

God bless you. Kathy [Keep growing and letting go]
