Boy I wish this was REALLY me, not just fantasy...enjoy!

Poem Artwork

On deck it’s cold & wet,

Warm in the wheelhouse,

A bunk just behind the wheel,

For cat naps with the boat on auto-pilot…

The wind blowing at 50 knots,

The seas at twelve to fifteen feet,

The temperature in the low thirties,

Ocean generated snow surrounds us,

Hard to believe but I think this is neat…

Two oceans meeting under our hull,

Ninety meters is the depth,

Of rocks or sand bars I worry & over mull,

Even at this depth a possibility exists…

Waves breaking over the bow,

Motion sickness we got, so no chow,

Water we drink to keep hydrated,

A calm cove makes us quite elated,

A break in the storm, some sleep & food,

Just a few miles ocean-ward, the storm rages unabated…

You are excelling in your craft bubba; growing the last year in leaps and bounds. The love you have for what you do is evident; it's a blessing to see. Sounds like you've been aboard the computerized schooner Heimdall. Blessings to you ... r

You know as a young man I sailed the North Atlantic and the Arctic Oceans on buoy boats and ice breakers. I was in seas so rough that we literally walked on walls and would have to tie ourselves in our bunks at night when we were into really heavy squalls. We'd spend weeks breaking a path through Artic Ice leading suppy ships and tankers to the far north to such places as Tuck de yuck tuck (spelling) Pond Inlet, and of Course Hudson Bay...those memories looking back are some of the best of my life. Great job here Ed.

Makes me nostalgic for my days on the Global Surveyor in the Gulf of Mexico. I got seasick once, my first trip, and never again. I was a cook. Whether or not there was anyone on-board who was sick or not, I put out all three meals like clockwork.

You seem to have the sea in your veins, Ed. It's funny. My ancestors were sailors and I am a mountain man now. Lol! I do love the sea as well but I don't have an urge to sail a ship. Thanks for sharing. Love and best wishes,

Regis
