Same car, same color...

Poem Artwork

Riding with me was my friend Gene,

We went to North Jersey to check out the scene,

At the time we were riding in my ’77 Honda civic wagon,

It may not have been the greatest, but it was pretty clean…

On the way home it started to snow,

Now little Whonda Rhonda the Wonder Honda was a great car,

But, she left a great deal to be desired in the heat department,

With the snow, we had to have defrosters, as it did across the road blow,

I had to tape off with duct tape the floor heater vents,

Putting to a great degree into the heat a dent…

So Gene was bitchin’

“My feet are freezing” said he,

Frostbite I likely will have,

Told him to put his feet up on the dash,

Or would he rather keep getting out and scrape my windshield,

He bitched & whined so much I wanted to kick him out in an open field…

We finally got home; no frostbite did ensue,

But off the handle he did flew,

Next time you can walk,

Then he shut up; just stood around & did balk…

I owned 3 cars like that. A 1966 Triumph, a 1967 volkswagen bug and a 1968 cougar. For the VW I actually hooked up a hair blower in line with the dash opening for air flow. Must have been something about the 60's Patrick

My first car had a broken heater (I couldn't afford to fix it) and no AC and I still thought I was really fortunate to have it and not have to ride the bus or walk. Of course, I lived in So. Calif. so a cold morning might have been +32F or so, but when you are used to 100F it still feels really cold and your toes do feel the nip. I just wore wool socks and fur lined slippers when I was driving...my friends were on their own but I did have a blanket in the car and an emergency blanket in the trunk so those were options. We were like 20 years old and happy to have a car and to be going anywhere. Fun story/poem, Ed, brought back memories.
Take care,
Sherry

Hah! Don't think I'd be taking him on anymore trips in the "Whonda Rhonda the Wonder Honda."

No More Crying Angels by MORGAN ST. JAMES

TRUE STORY. Bella survived an abusive powerbroker father with organized crime ties, a drug-addicted mother and a physically/sexually abusive brother. Shocking & inspirational. When she couldn't cry, she tattooed a crying angel to cry for her.
