You may not know this, but there was a latter-day Jimi by the name of Freddie Everett. I saw him citywide talent contests here in Houston in the early 90s. Later, Freddie became more well-known in Texas and was able to provide a comfortable living for his family. Unfortunately, Freddie acquired ALS in 2006 and died in 2009. One of his helpers came to work for me right after.
