“MUSIC APPRECIATED”
No country do I listen,
Nor Cajun either (much to dismay of a certain pair of twins in Texas),
Classical; Bach, Beethoven, Wagner to name a few,
Keeps me relaxed through and thru,
Old rock groups, Hendrix, Sabbath & the Who,
All bring back memories of misspent youth.
Getting older and tastes seem to change,
New wave, Kitaro, Yanni, seem to be my pleasure now,
It has less range & that is what I want, anyhow!
Still in all, doesn’t matter much,
What music is on, as long as its not just clatter,
Need music, of late, with meaning,
Tell me a story & there’s where I will be leaning.
But crank up the rap & out the door I will be leaving,
Or after a time, in the toilet I will be heaving.
I also get into the club dance sound,
It keeps my feet beating,
And I can feel my heart pound.
Oh my god let us not forget the Beatles,
As dad said, “That’s not music,
It will never last.”
Gee, Dad, I hate to disagree,
Now that you’re in no position to argue,
I guess it’s kinda a moot point,
But survive they did, well into the new century,
But I guess, to a degree, still out, here, is the jury…
