India's mission to Mars was launched on Nov 5th 2013 with its polar rocket placing the Mars spacecraft into an intended earth orbit

Poem Artwork

                       ISRO Mars Mission 2013

A silver jubilee flight

  It was a  mission right

Reaching out in height

 After  the Diwali night

 Indeed  a beautiful sight

Bit by bit it eked

On this landmark trek

Took days and nights to make

To wonderland of Mars to take

A long bright yellow plume now darts

 Through silent empty haze

 Passing through big maze

On its own in a haste

In a maiden mission for a date

With the red planet Mars

A complex game of math,

 Like chess the many moves

Oddly new to most human minds

 The study and the find,

To go four hundred odd million miles

To pursue goals and go ahead

Where others before have tread

It is the wish of the mind

Of a rising nation to remind

We too can make the find

Amidst the growing pains

 Carrying a huge population on

To get a firm footing bound

Into the  big wide world to go

  A leap, one huge step,

The mind's big boost leapt

 From ground zero to space

 Then to a planet’s orbit

The space odyssey is strange

 Complex are its needs

Wish all the best for the mission

For there is praise in this vision

For the power of the man

In this game of love

Aiming for the heart of Mars

To send  a dart across!

Crossing earth and space

Into the planet Mars

 Be taken in her crust

Reach  her folds to rest

Yes I do love it. Love pretty much anything that has to do with astronomy. The description of takeoff, the possible discoveries. Very well written. Thanks for sharing.

Indeed, India has always had vision. It's a majestically written poem.

Though there are times when I wonder if our priorities are right.
I'd be more impressed if mankind did its best for those in need on earth.

I gave my heart to my wife, but I trust it's health to my cardiologist--an Indian! To Mars and beyond...

Many years ago it was proposed that India will it move from an agrarian culture, skipping the dirty and messy industrialization stage, and leapfrog into the high-tech information age.

Your poem, illustrating an Indian mission to Mars along with the many high-tech industries forming throughout the country seems to bear that theory out. What a wonderful thing to behold.

Epiphany by Gary Stephens

“We’re going to use nine megaton warheads in space and we’re not sure they’re large enough to be effective. Why would you even consider using kiloton-range surface-to-air warheads as back-up?” The answer was succinct. “Because they’re all we have.”
