Poem Artwork

I fly like a bird in the sky

I roam about   many feet high

But the free bird moves on it own

Beautifully   glides  with wings wide

Its body  and  life to call its own

A nest to make and a mate to   love

To cuddle  in nooks and corners in  haste

To lay  as many eggs of its own

Where its  tiny ones crack out and blink

One by one all naked and weak

Hungrily waiting with open beaks

See how the birdies  grow their plumes

Until they are big and strong to fly on their own

There is this bird, my namesake   kite

It behaves like king of  birds, so often seen

Perched high above , it looks down on creations

Eyeing its  prey swift and  swoons perfectly done

But I am  a puppet in the hands of the man

Little boys enjoy racing me in  sky

And then I go up  climbing so high

Bright and coloured like the flowers  of spring

Pink and purple or yellow or blue

In various shapes and sizes I am designed

Flying high  along  with the birds I psyche

They rest by night  and go  when  sun comes out

While  like  paper boats I  disappear

Torn and  thrown when  worn out

Often from fencings and lamp posts hooked

Along with bats  in  electric wire lines trapped

Hanging by the thread  from trees  in  wild

Often not able to rise an inch from the space

Such times I  lie  bare and idle

Soon I am thrashed,  made to go  into  bin

Like  papers flowers faked  sadly  nod

Where the  fresh flowers grow full

I don’t stand a chance to gain

That is why they say "Life is beautiful"

Interesting personification of a kite. With all that goes along. The last two lines don't jibe.

I have taken pride in writing this novel as so many people have the wrong impression on bikers because they dress in leather clothing which is to protect themselves in case of an accident. The majority of bikers are known Policemen, Firemen, Doctors,
