Could it be the effects of global warming ? Month of March in Maharashtra India is early summer days when out of the blue as many as 28 districts were hit by unseasonal rains and hailstorm. It caused heavy damage to about 20 lakh hectares of crops, killed cattle and destroyed other farmland properties, leading to thirty eight farmer suicides across Western Maharashtra. As per news. the state government on Wednesday evening finalized a Rs 4,000 crore relief and rehabilitation package to farmers. But in vain for those of whom who didn�t withstand the shock and faded away with the crops.

The sky was grumbling out of time Unusual dark patches Crossed across its wide belly Something was amiss The wind howled restlessly The sky turned heavy Pregnant and looked weary Below on the surface of the earth The fields were laden pretty The colours variants as many Different crops, different shades The yield perfect this time Rich and ripe, all was right Waited to be picked with bliss Farmers enjoying season’s fun Preparing for a good harvest Dreaming of all good things Fun and frolic all the way The fruit of labour dear and sweet But it was not to be Rains played havoc to sweep the air Droplets clung on with a heavy heart It was not ready to bear the plight When the rains came down heavily this way First fell on sweat of the farm hands Where they worked hard thru the days For the magic carpet of yield laid so straight Thunderstorm blared loud after a screechy silence When lightning jig sawed, sparkled and left The skies soon wept It was forced to open up and drain Icy hailstorm now flew in a rage As it leapt across farms and roads And lashed and whipped the plants to ground The farmer distraught for soon he knew The curse of global warming brought out its fangs The fields lay strewn like in war All destroyed soon in a wave The farmer found no way to go Lost all that is sacred to him Soon he found his way out sure One last time he looked at his broken farm And he felt his heart crush and so in pain He returned to dust, in dust he slept Along with the loss he was lost Went down like the captain of a sinking ship

It has indeed been strange weather this past year. How sad. I didn't think of the many who lost so much. Losing one's dreams and hard work is like a ship sinking.

a very sad event for dreams to be washed away by nature's being ... climate warming is one of the greatest scams going ... the weather is always in a state of flux, always was ... from global warming to climate change ... there hasn't been enough of scientific observation, in centuries, to tell what's really going on ... when i was growing up the scientists were preparing us for a ice age ... i wonder, can the earth be "heating up" due to it's inner core or magnetic field intensifying and getting us ready to freeze ...probably depends where you live ... they can barely forecast the weather properly a day or two ahead ... get the crystal ball ... again, sad event ... good poem ,,,

Your poem is very timely and empathetic regarding the problems the storms created. What shocks me is that so many Indian farmers are committing suicide. Weather events like this have been with us forever. Some people suffered greatly while others prosper.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the oldest scientific community in the United States has come out with a recent report to warn the world that global warming is a fact, verified by 97% of the world's climate scientists. The report warns that severe weather activity will continue and may turn very violent if we do not act to correct the increase in carbon dioxide in the air.

We cannot base these kinds of conclusions on single events, but the evidence is becoming much clearer and difficult weather worldwide seems to be becoming more prevalent.

1. Man does NOT have control of the weather.
2. Man does NOT have a clue what the weather will be tomorrow.

People's lives can change in a flash of a second. Natural destruction are the worst kind to destroy a person's life. It's just too bad global warming is continuing and the world's climate is changing so fast that natural disaster is unavoidable.

So very sad. And Something is Amiss indeed on this planet of ours. While many now endure savage storms, others endure endless droughts,
