On this day, 29th May of 1953, it was Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa tenzing Norgay who were the first to step atop the tallest summit in the world

I wrote a similar poetry to this a while back. You and I seem to think alike JK. Strange but true. Determination is the fuel behind many successful stories. You said it best in this lovely poem. Am so happy for the girl.

Few can survive in the death zone beyond 27,000 feet without oxygen. Young girls like her stand a better chance than older folks. Your poem left me wondering how a young girl from poor parents was able to join an expedition on a feat like this. Summiting Everest has become a very expensive proposition. It would be nice to know how she was sponsored and why she was chosen at such a young age. Setting the record certainly will put her in the history books and may win her lifelong fame and fortune.
