Place where the snake lived in Lehar garden
A full length hooded king cobra
Existed near the building gate
Played hide and seek with society dogs
Like in Eden garden , it freely moved
In the underground sewers it slithered
Dogs would watch from the ground
Put their nose on the concrete front
Up and down they ran along and sniffed
The gardener and the Chauffer all
The building watchmen on shift duties
Did swear on the nature of the snake
Of the poisonous King Cobra
They said was chaste as it can be
No harm to anyone it could do
It lulled in the garden as it pleased
Harmless and quiet it stayed
But now it was the season then
When tadpoles grew to little frogs
They were springing everywhere
Along the fence , at the entrance way leapt
Stretching on to the black tarred road
The snake caught them in plenty in compound
Breakfast , lunch and supper time happily went
Sneaking up behind them quietly though
All was well until it dared
To coil under flower pots and guardian chairs
Word soon spread of the snake’s culinary delights
On that fateful day , on a Saturday
The secretary was on inspection round
Was face to face with the hooded snake
It stood in front near the entrance door
It couldn’t budge so it was caught
Soon it was done away
One person’s loss is another’s gain
The little frogs grew happily big
But the moral of the story is this
A poisonous snake cannot co exist
Like other pets without the risk
To one or the other!
Love ya!
