Tears fall to dark below
Or else smug snarls
Emanating from
A pit of stench
A ship pitching up and down
In this sea of sludge
Names itself sanity
Becoming wood fragments
A vessel wrecked
On cowardice shoals
Collateral the impoverished
Jobless
Homeless
Millionaires and
Corporation billionaires
Remain coddled
Buying and selling politicians
Disguised as gift-giving
They know full well
Such sticky souls
Greed’s honey
Servile employees
Patronizing
Yes sir, looking great sir
So goes the web of minimum wage
Hoping for that bonus, that raise
Anticipating the usual stiffing
Their “job creator’s” trickle down lie
Exploiting
Any and all unlike them
Dismissing or laughing
At the poor
In their country clubs
While sipping champagne
