A few years back our granddaughter, while living with us, lost a tooth. Of course the Tooth Fairy paid her a visit. The next night, she unexpectedly loses another "tooth", and that's what this poem is about. And this is a true story. This is also a repost from my 1st stint here on AD
YOU CAN’T FOOL THE TOOTH FAIRY You can’t fool the Tooth Fairy, Although Tylene tried. “I just lost a tooth”, she announced, Hoping nobody noticed she lied. Tylene placed her “just lost tooth” Under the pillow on her bed. “I hope the Tooth Fairy comes tonight.” That’s what Tylene said. But that “tooth” wasn’t a tooth. That tooth was a fake. There wasn’t a real tooth there For the Tooth Fairy to take. Tylene went to bed that night, As sneaky as she could be, Hoping to get some money, By tricking the Tooth Fairy. The next morning After Tylene was awake, She found a note that read; “You can’t fool the Tooth Fairy.” And the money she left was fake. Michael D. Schafer © December 22, 2012

A nice lesson to teach a child at an age where it will stay with them whenever they are faced with cheating in the future.

But I do recall on the television show, Survivor, where a couple of the contestants were quite good at making "fake" immunity idols for their rivals to find. In almost every case, by planting that fake idol the fake idol maker benefited greatly by fooling the person who thought they had found a real idol. A case where fakery paid off.

A very funny little tale, especially because children are apt to do such a thing. They can be quite inventive and mischievous. Enjoyed. I am going to read this to a few children I know and see their reaction. I think many of your poems (not all!) would be appropriate for children, who tend to like the natural rhythms and rhymes of poetry in my experience. John
