Rockin' the continental shelf.

KING CRAB & THE SAND CASTLES

King Crab and the Sand Castles,

Were rockin’ the Continental Shelf.

It was the last stop on their oceanwide tour,

And King Crab had to keep pinching himself.

His band was known far and deep.

His aquatic concerts were the best.

Everyone wore a wet suit,

So they were all formally dressed.

King Crab played with lots of sole.

His riffs were mighty fine.

The singing starfish could hit the high C’s

It was her night to shine.

The sea bass played bass.

He was happy as a clam.

And the jellyfish on rhythm guitar,

Sure knew how to jam.

The octopus played four drums at a time.

His percussions couldn’t be beat.

Killer whales made up the orca-stra,

And their pod-cast was really neat.

King Crab looked out at the audience,

They were all doing the wave.

Even his cousin Hermit,

Had crawled out of his cave.

They stayed that night and played,

Till every fin swam home to sleep.

King Crab and the Sand Castles,

The best band in the briny deep.

Well, you’ve knocked another one out of the park, Michael. You have such a knack for being able to see how words can work together and tie them to one another in a group. It’s as though you give each word a little job to do...like you take words that belong in a group, put them in a box, shake it up, then take the words out one at a time, and fit them into a puzzle. I don’t know what it is, but you’ve got some kind of special wheels turning in that brain of yours.

With all the magnetic attraction today's youth has to rock bands this poem would be an instant hit for sure. I vision King Crab and the other deep sea characters on the cover of a children's book. Rock on Michael!

A wonderful romp through the musical side of the sea. Once again I have to commend you for coming up with those word combinations that fit right in with the nautical lifestyle you are reporting.
