Just trying to address the epidemic of bullying.

 HOLD YOUR TONGUE

Thinking it and saying it,

Are two different things.

Once said, it can’t be taken back,

And hurt will be all that it brings.

It’s one thing to think it,

But think before you speak.

Censoring what you say,

Doesn’t make you weak.

Everyone has feelings.

The golden rule still applies.

What you’re thinking might be true ,

But sometimes it’s better to tell white lies.

Filter what comes out of your mouth.

Employ diplomacy and tact.

Discretion is advised,

We’re judged by how we act.

It’s called holding your tongue,

And that goes for social media too.

Just think about how you’d feel,

If the same thing happened to you.

True wisdom, I totally agree. Hurtful words can never be unsaid. Better to weigh your words than crush someone with them.

I apologize in advance for all my tasteless, hurried, hurtful comments.

On the other hand, sometimes we have to tell the king that he isn't wearing any clothes. Just because he's king, shouldn't give him the right to be tactless.

An unusual poem for you, but well thought out and presented. Very tactful.

People say things that hurt other people, and then they say, as an excuse: I'm just telling the truth. I hate that. Death to the bullies!

"We're judged by how we act." Ain't that the truth. Your poem is timely and so true. Sometimes people make comments that are hurtful and mean, even here on AD. Whether they know or know now is anyone's guess. Some dress up their comments as "constructive criticism" and under that veil hide all the nastiness they can muster. You got it right at the end, "jus think about how you'd feel. . . " So well spoken, Michael.

One must practice tact. If one has class, tact is not hard to come by. 'Enjoyed, Michael!

Love ya!

As writers, I think we need to grow thicker skin, nobody is going to hold his/her tongue just because we demand them to. As writers, we also need to have our voices heard.

One must NOT mistake a constructive criticism as a "bullying" message. You can take the criticism as a well-meaning advice, or you can ignore its idea, or you can treat it as a source for a debate or a discussion on your work. Nothing is concrete that says you have to take the advice. It's all up to the author in how he/she would handle the criticism. If you think you have been bullied just because someone has a different opinion to yours about your work you are free to delete that comment. I think all social media, including authorsden, have a "delete" button for that purpose. To say you have been bullied because someone has critiqued your work or has a difference in opinion to politics would be childish because you have just as much rights to have your say as everyone else.

Very good - I have a problem with speaking first and thinking later. You nailed it with this very nice poem. People can often be cruel - meaning to sometimes and just not thinking other times. Maybe your readers will take note of your wisdom and watch what they say.
