Grumpy Gavin

A friend had a very trying day with her baby. This is for her and her son.

 GRUMPY GAVIN

 

Grumpy Gavin,

Has a tummy ache.

He’s also teething,

So mommy doesn’t get a break.

 

Grumpy Gavin,

Sits and cries.

Mommy gives kisses,

And dries the tears from his eyes.

 

Grumpy Gavin,

Wears mommy out.

But she still loves him,

Of that there’s no doubt.

This sums up my week. My daughter is visiting with her newborn. He cries and cries. He wants to be held. His stomach hurts — poor mommy. Grandma is also having a tough time. Not so easy the second time around.

That was really cute. Immediately though I thought of Grumpy Old Men. I could picture Grumpy Grandpa going through all those same things, putting Grandma in a bind just to please him. It happens every day and is little reported. Maybe a poem about him would help.
