Very cleverly written, Bill, whether you've plunged blindfolded into that scene or whether you bare your soul to the unknown through poetry and developed a family of protective friends who often seem more human and sensitive than the ones you see regularly face to face. I know there are bad folk lurking out there, and others, I have discovered, who have the computer knowledge to crawl inside uninvited. I, for one, am still this optimistic soul who tends to trust on a gut level and try and give folks some "credit" and find the beauty in everyone.
Are you ever to old or too young to yearn or seek friendship?
I think the computer evolution has shown us that loneliness is epedemic.

Credit reports? Oh I never thought to ask for that before....could that be what I'm doing wrong? LOL.. just kidding of course! Your piece is straight on in many ways! There are those pluses and minuss but I must share what a friend of mine said once about online dating.. It's like shopping at 'Just 2 Many'..lol

I haven't floated away yet.. but I was beginning to wonder last night.

So very very true, Bill! Today, on a Guestbook, someone named "anonymous" left a sweet note and signed off "Hugs and Kisses, Becky". All over the MSN and Yahoo groups, it's wall-to-wall "Hugz" between total strangers. We've "met" thousands of strangers in these years since Windows opened up a wider world. Out of all these, I have only met four of them face-to-face, but all four of them are wonderful interactive people. Two of them are partnered with me in a non-profit project, and one of them is now my co-director in a Texas corporation. The fourth is a very unique crusading "Knight" and has become a dear friend. I never would have met these dear people were it not for the keyboard I am typing on right now. I'll leave the "online dating" to those who crave risky business, but I do have a high regard for those "Keyboard Kisses." Thanks, Becky, where ever you are! Great poem, Bill. Keep 'em coming!

Online dating with credit reports ...what happened to the old days when gut instincts were the best play in the game? It sure seems cold this way of clandestine history checkups and privacy breaching. No wonder I'm the way I am about dating anymore. There is no privacy for love. To me, this is very sad.
