I Walked And We Talked

On one of those days when another's voice
Would have shattered my deep contentment
I walked the half mile down to the river
past homes - a farm or two - trees - then the river
It's a good walk through scenery good enough to be painted
and while I walked I talked with her
She started it with - Good morning My Love
I replied - You sound close today and I love your voice
Angelic tones caressed my ears - I'm with you and I'm fine
Then she spoke endearing things never heard on this earth
I told her this and one sweet word was heard - Flatterer
- the way she showed modesty when she knew it was true
Hearing her whisper - I still love you and the way you laugh -
I chuckled and replied - I always had a lot to laugh about -
And so much with you when you were here
Her voice scolded me - You're breaking our rules -
we agreed to leave the past there - and to talk only of today
I apologized and we chatted about something new -
like the weather since it was almost Spring
a special time we had loved -
Her next words were so faint I didn't understand them
So she repeated - You were always in the mood in Springtime
I asked - In the mood for what
She said softly - If I have to remind you -
it would take away the magic
I savored that and nodded for too long -
and when I asked her to speak to me of how things were -
She offered only a beautiful silence -
until another day when I will walk and we will talk

Our human bodies are frail, fragile as crystal. But our spirits, endure forever. To share and share. And when love is captured among the cosmic dust of who we are, we will twinkle like a star. Enduring ad infinitum. A touching poem you have penned Bill. Jon Michael Willey

It's funny how we do that and feel their closeness even as we know their distance... and even as we wished them here we know it's not how it must be. Truly a beautiful offering from your pen today... love ya, my friend,

hauntingly beautiful my friend...another fine example of the richness with which I have come to expect from your work. I see I have missed a lot and need to spend a bit more time in here catching up on your works.
