To Be Five Again

My trilogy about the death of an older loved one,
and prideful joy seeing the young getting started
with their lives, deeply astounds and pleases me.

While in their home, grandchildren included me
in attendance at a musical play of kindergarten
students singing on one tune to different words.

Costumes and voices rang out as each gave an
individual speaking part in rhyming words, while
our budding star's words rang out most clearly.

Transported to almost forgotten days, adults, all
were, again, five or so, relishing what little ones
gave, really wanting it to last until we grew up.
