Let Me Remember

Let me remember the voices and poetry of
Talented friends writers artists and others
Who shared with me sparks of inspiration

Beyond the celebrated and famous let me
Remember originals in pottery made by
My neighbor who was blind and so gifted

Earning a spot on my list is the war veteran
with one arm and hand who played highly
difficult music of most classic composers

Surely the mother-grandmother and friend
Whose spare moments into late night work
Made clothes and quilts gifts for needfuls

Let me remember a childless couple always
Involved in birthday parties and events of
Neighborhood kids without enough toys

Deserving is am artist employed by the city
Whose work ranged from Disney characters
To life like spring flowers ready to be plucked

Miss Hancock librarian for over thirty years
With a fighting spirit got enough money to
Bring in new books for lending to readers

Our children's music teacher and his violin
Both from Europe showing up at gatherings
Of deprived adults starving for good music

During the years left I will add more who
Are unforgettable and who might know
No other plaudit except the one recorded
