A Magical Night

A good rain is priceless falling at
A slow deliberate pace spattering on
Yielding surfaces and welcomed by
All needing its liquid freshness to
Provide nature and human needs

The best rain comes past midnight
With all the tiny creatures dancing
Their numbers to old nature tunes
Water figures making entrance as
Raindrops flowering into dancers

At dawn a water ballet ends after
Solidly replenishing earth's needs
Allowing growing things to ripen
While soothing sleepers not awake
Sharing dancing raindrop at work

You would make a great Oregonian because you absolutely have to love the rain out here to stay sane. Nice write, Sir Bill.

Nothing like being in bed, all snuggled under the blankets and hearing a gently rain on the roof! Love it, Bill!

Looks like you scored a major hit, Bill. I like rain too.
Indeed, I find it difficult to sleep between rains. -gene.

This is so soothing. I love rain. Bill, you've described the the sound so well. The best part of rain though is sleeping in, and if one is lucky enough, snuggling up. And then!... when the rain clears, it is as if the atmosphere had been washed away of all its detritus. I love rain. ~ Sara

Let it rain all night as it makes for music to sleep by. A very beautiful poem.
