The night before a
high numbered wedding anniversary
I began taking inventory
not
of rewards along the way
nor
what had contributed to
successes
Rather how much I had grown in
a rare marriage
Four events made my life better
- The realization that she and I had
fallen in love
- Acceptance of the fact that
marriage is life's greatest
challenge
- Our conceiving and bearing
children were opportunities to
improve mankind
- Providing for a wife and children
required well paid
hard work
As did the pharos and kings of old
my dreams and accomplishments are
now locked in a huge
chest
along with other priceless
relics
of a past
