The Place of Secret Bees

Fictional characterization of bees.

In the land of flowers

          that grow into tall towers

there is a well-kept secret.

One that nobody knows about one bit.

Deep within the many blooms

there is a small village that looms.

Those living in the village are so very busy.

It’s enough to make anyone dizzy.

They are truly hard working worker bees.

Why they are, soon you will see.

They buzz and they chatter.

They scutter around like a wildcatter.

They flutter and fly,

          and only go so high.

There are Mister Bees and Misses Bees,

          and baby bees, too.

Too much nectar makes them go hot CHOO.

Their antennae bounces and bobbles.

But their skinny legs far from hobble.

These bees have big eyes that are round

and voices that make a high pitched sound.

They dress in clothing

          and wear little shoes,

                   and hats are a must.

Not because their hair will be thrust

          in a gust.

It’s the proper thing to do.

It is, you see, dictated as a strict rule.

And here is the secret that I will give.

In this village,

is where the bee people live.

And they do not sting.

They only buzz and sing.

I got a buzz from reading this cleverly disguised didactic poem. I imagined a young woman reading this to her grandchildren using many nuances.

Unfortunately, workers are all female. Males either fertilize the queen or become drones to guard the hive. Perhaps that's why we organize ourselves in a similar way.

Love the parallels with human behavior

a beautiful community's secret is disclosed here to all of us, which means that we have no right to waste our time as the human lifetime is also short. Cheers, alex
