Hello Mister Santa Clause
When I was a little bit younger than four,
My Mommy took me to a great big store,
There were pretty long ribbons and pretty bright lights,
And toys that made a wonderful sight,
It was Christmas Season, but I didn’t care,
I was just so happy at being down there,
There were many little girls and many little boys,
All with their parents , just looking at toys,
My Mommy took me to a big long line,
And I just stood there , her hand in mine,
When she moved around, I could see a big chair,
With a big red feller, a sitting up there,
He was jolly and happy with a big friendly grin,
I could see thru the great white beard on his chin,
Then I jumped a foot, at this sight because,
There I was staring at a real Santa Clause,
I looked kinda frightened , I heard a lady say,
But I was watching him close, so he wouldn’t get away,
And just when I thought ,I was close enough to see,
There I was sitting on his big red knee,
He asked me a question , that I never heard,
I sat real quiet and didn’t say a word,,
I should say something ,but I couldn’t even try,
My mind was a blank , and my mouth was really dry,
Then when I was leaving, Mister Santa took my hand,
He said, “That’s alright Sonny, I really understand,”
That made me feel better , but Mommy, Uhh-Oh!
She loves me a plenty, but sometimes though,
She talks real plain and dreadfully slow,
Makes a little guy wonder, I reckon you know,
But this time she hugged me and tasseled my hair,
Squeezed me real tight, said, “You’re one of a pair.
Though not even four yet, I’ve got to declare,
You were just like your Bashful ol’Daddy up there.”
