(Nothing happens that is not common to man, as this poem suggests.)
awakens and is shocked to see the womb is empty only he remains...scrambles around...afraid...alone...stark terror my innocence...where has it gone?...where has it gone? runs to the man in the garden..."what...gone," he says he looks around...where is his mudpie?...where is his mate? where did she go?...he runs around the garden digging through the floor of the garden...screaming now...into the sky the animals are nervous...the serpent grins....he rushes to the water the tides do ebb...not even a trace of her there angels shrugging...demons giggling he tries to fly, but the wind refuses to fill his wings he tries to swim but sinks to the bottom...no buoyancy...no flow he rushes to the forest but the trees are all naked and they are ashamed..."liars" he accuses..."liars all" Aliars," the trees echo in unison..."liars," the haystacks wail running fast as he can up the mountain but can not reach the top...the faster he runs...the farther down he regresses till soon there is no mountain at all......just a valley....perpetual...eternal falling into a pit...crawling around and around...looking for a way out so afraid, so familiar, so alone...deep, deep pit...nobody has ever been so deep he digs for a foothold...something for which he can steady himself looks on the wall of the pit...there...carved intothe wall ADAM WAS HERE
