BLOOD RED

Source:dolcemania

Blood red rose.

Petals open to the sun.

Don’t shy away from me.

Don’t turn your face.

I’m here to receive your love.

Your compassion.

Your petals are closing.

Dew is dripping,

And I am leaving.

Suzanne, I was about to say the same thing. I got your metaphor quite easily from your few words so beautifully written. In other words, love can be a bloody mess.

Michael, The poem is a metaphor of love lost. I leave it to the reader to interpret. The dew can be tears. I hope this helps.

roses are rightly famed as flowers of love
and come in many colours from pure white
to blood orange.
