We all have regrets no matter how things turn out. The fact is there is always another road to travel. I could have lived in Hawaii but I decided to get married and was shipped off to Japan for three years instead. Later on in life I had a great job at the Air Force Academy. My wife's parents got sick and needed help so we moved to Florida from Colorado Springs. It's a lot hotter here but we have great beaches and no winter storms. I could have regrets and sometimes wonder what might have been but who knows, I may have feel off a mountain skiing and wound up like Sonny Bono, dead and long gone!
I always say, "Home is where I hang my hat, I make the BEST of where I'm at. Still it's always good to have a dream for the future. Dreams make life fun and interesting.
When I was a teen my friends and I used to hang out with this dude in his 20's who had a houseboat. He left his wife in Rhode Island, docked in New York and never went back. He would tell us stories about his travels. We had a great time by the campfire exchanging stories but what I admired most was his freedom to live 24/7 on the water.
A few years ago I stayed with my wife on a houseboat for a week in Rhode Island on a 40 ft. which was docked the whole time. She loved it but I just felt like it was like living on a glorified house trailer on a dock. So much for my dreams and love of living on the water. So, I kicked that off my bucket list and moved on.
My greatest love on the water these days is kayaking. It's so peaceful and serine and effortless on a calm river. Motor boats are just too noisy and kind of boring. You go by too fast and you miss out seeing the wildlife around you. Simple is better. Just like I prefer riding a bike vs. driving in a car for the same basic reasons. Slow down and enjoy the sun and the clouds. Check out the trees rusting in the wind. Live, live, live and enjoy life, my friend.

I don't believe in wearing the phrase into senseless babble, but telling those who make a difference in your life "I love you," will likely save you from a lot of regrets of the really "bluesy" kind.
