Everyone Needs To Start Somewhere. Even if it is a dream wish from a leprechaun !!

                              A Farm I Bought

The farm I bought was already stocked
with everything but a pig and a poke
Convincing my lass it's our dream at last
the makings of a very bad joke

We farmed this land that's marginal at best
not wise when the stakes are small
We tried our hand at everything grand
as our dreams seem to go at a crawl

The land offered rocks by the many
                nothing would grow  but gravel
                Being a man of impervision
I'd rather fight than give up to travel

                  We couldn't afford the chickens
the Easter bunny made good stew
So we painted rocks instead of eggs
some we painted like a shoe

One learns to put their ear to the ground
                  searching for success to settle
The only thing gained was a vile itch
by listening to close to a stinging nettle

So we sold the rocks for a plenty
some we sold by the pound
For stopping doors and garden decor
fancy fences that would hold down the ground

Hey Darryl Thanks for reviewing my poem sounds like you improvised pretty well on the farm.

To own a piece of Natures property has to be a very gratifying experience & to work the land like on a farm must make you quite happy. Selling rocks reminds me of selling painted shells off the beach when I was a child...blew all the money I made on junk, candy & soda mostly...interesting to read this posting...-e-
