Mother Nature painting my yard.

Where do you come from?

Leaves of yellow, Leaves of red,

cover my lawn and flower bed.

I do not know from where you fell

but you’re not mine it’s easy to tell

My trees are full with leaves of green

not a colored one is seen

Leaves oh leaves from trees unknown

I wish you would leave my yard alone

I’ll take care of the leaves I’ve grown.

Where we immigrants to this glorious continent get the idea that we want neat, monocolor landscapes like precisely cut, weedless and blemishless geometric designs that we call, "lawns," is beyond my understanding.

Nature's the best landscaper. Laying down a blanket of cover from its leaves to be either used to protect gentle sprouts coming up in the spring or to provide fertilizer for upcoming new generations of plants.

Michael is right. Mulched them. Let the wind blow them where it will. And marvel in the spring of what has been protected and can be shared in the spring.

Most of the leaves that end up in my yard come from my neighbor's giant oak, and when the west wind blows, I get even more of those leaves. I however, do not rake leaves. I mulch them. Enjoyed your poem, and say hello to Jack Frost for me to.

A very well expressed piece of poetry! There are folks like myself who would pay big bucks to see changing of the aspen leaves. It also would be nice to see more colors other than green in Florida. So enjoy the colors that fall from Heaven, my friend. LOL
