Sometimes in life we seem to think that it is ok to be "comfortable" in a state of "comfort" but when the realisation sets in, the truth has been concealed under a canvas of lies ! Life is to be lived ... not merely EXIST!
Regret !
Sometimes in life the chance is missed,
the opportunity that knocked,
which I stifled and blocked,
sweet allure evaporated in the mist.
Desires smothered by my insecurities,
"confidence" that unemphatic word,
often thought of, but so seldom heard,
time marches, age, realizing maturities.
Concealed under a canvas of lies,
misconceptions of a comfortable state,
eluding me, realising a little too late
comfort thereunder was but a guise.
Heart and soul that wanted to meet,
through passion, love or even lust,
wanting a chance to win my trust,
but frightened, I beat a hasty retreat.
My heart now wanders sad and blue,
lost and crying tearfully bleeding,
in anguish and hope yearning and pleading,
another opportunity the chance to renew.

This is beautiful, Elga. I wrote a poem on this same theme a while ago, though I did not do so as elegantly as you have. Sometimes life is all about timing and something that we should have reached for came to us at a time that, for some reason, was not the "right time." Regret? Never, for at least, if only for that brief moment, you have felt the kiss of eternity.
