I know living everywhere ( even here is really tough) A 2 bedr. home here and 1 bath, is 950. without utilities.... Suckssssss bigtime, and less for savings/Retirement, I'm fuming nowwwwww%^%#&% ^#W %^ enough - I always have you in my prayers, MOre Wisdom will find you!

I see your pain in this poem, but I also see a man fighting a righteous cause against a plague of taxes that seems to be flooding our entire world. This world needs another tea party.

i though Canada has some kind of universal health system that avoided this surcharges ... in the US most health providers force a catastrophic deductible of ten grand ... it's crazy after paying so much in health costs ... it's very sad and i can imagine deeply frustrating to be placed in the position of considering to move in order to pay additional health costs besides cutting your pension benefits ... the bureaucracy has no compassion even for those who've served their country ... keep fighting, Felix ... never go down without a fight ...

Even in Canada, eh? I thought it was just here where beauracracy tarnished everything. It often seems futile to fight the system, but often our survival depends upon it. On their side, of course, is time, often the one thing that we have so little left of. I feel your pain, Felix and I hope you get things cleared up and turned around.

Not sure how it all works in Canada? But regardless, we all have quirks in our systems that only affect those who need it most!

Initially our system of taxation was applied to only those working for the US government, and somehow it slipped its way through the cracks, spilling out into all citizens within the US.
We do have an option to fight it...but don't hold your breath, too many fear going up against this "free" country...so just out of mere peace, they CHOOSE to allow themselves to be dooped...laying down the sword and just paying the damn thing...

I can't imagine you ever losing a battle, Fee. This one is, perhaps, a pain in the tukous but you'll be standing proud when the fight is through. There is no heart in any government today.

Geez Fee that's really rough, I'm so sorry to hear that. The government even gets you after you've passed away, Dad had to pay roughly 6000 because Mom supposedly had an overpayment on her disability pension. Go figure. Try to stay strong, praying it works out for you.

It's an absolute joke, if you ask me. Seems like the government has an answer to everything. I feel for you Fee, as I'm getting hit hard with the property taxes in New York. And you're right. Their answer is always if you can't afford it, see your house. Needless to say that rents are more costly than to own your own home. Good Luck and know that you aren't alone.

Life always offers blows especially from a governments point of views. I am sorry this all happened you work and slave your whole life just to be robbed in the end. I always sign against the retirement bills, pensions, and elderly Social Security... I fight back with petitions. I loved the poem though sad but it is a reality and Poets weil the words to make aware.
