Autumn Colors

Pressed between the bible pages it may fade


Ironed between waxed paper softly laid


 


Captured by the solitude of times past


Seasons change but these memories die cast


 


Autumn colors on a schoolroom wall dance


Brighten young and old with every glance


 


Swirling leafs giggle out side the window’s sill


Of Halloween’s witches and goblins they tell


 


Time to tuck beach memories away somehow


As we applaud the summer’s closing bow


 


The smell of burning leafs perfume the air


Children frolic in piles raked up with care


 


So glad Mother Nature sure knows what to do


With sweet autumn’s colors just for me and you!

I have always welcomed this change in season...not just for the beautiful colors and autumn scents of harvest seeds and pumpkin pies, or turkey feasts, but it so happens to me mine and my husbands Birthdays in October. We usually save the last week in the month to escape for a week! I am so looking forward to it!

Although, I hate the thoughts of summer leaving us behind, we ineviably have to face the music but if Autumn offers us nothing more, it gives us such beauty through colors that not even an artist can capture truly. Beautiful.

I wish we had leaves turning here. But, not for a couple or so weeks. This was such a wonderful present - of today and the past.

Autumn, God's very own painting with vibrant colors on the trees that once were green now Autumn's scene.

I never really saw all the leaves change colors except for dogwoods. Pine trees stay green all the time. The leaves changing here in Warner Robins were a delightful sight to see. Fee, your write brings the excitement of the fall to me. Thank you!

Autumn is my favorite time of year! I remember , as a child, going to my uncles in the mountains and picking up beautiful fall colored leaves. I put them in a plastice bag. When I got back to Savannah I opened them and they had all oxidized into nasty gray colors. I was so disappointed.
This is a picture poem of Autumn leaves.

I can smell those leaves burning now. And to this day, I love frolicking in leave piles with my dogs. Mother Nature truly does provide us with many wonders; all we need do is look.

After reading the poem I went looking if it was still there. It was a very old autumn leave that once went from emeral green to red blood with hues, like it was on fire.
She still sleeps inside the pages, although like me, its colors has paled but the memory still there.

We seldom get the bright colors of fall here in Texas (last year an exception), but o, you've brought back memories of my youth spent in Ohio: they have INCREDIBLE fall foliage. (Raked a lot of what fell, too, LOL.) This is beautiful, as gentle as falling leaves...well done.

A wonderful read of Nature's transition. "Swirling leafs giggle...", I had to giggle myself at this verse as it brings to life the miscievous nature in me. I am glad to have started my day today with this work. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
