Christmas Small-town Atmosphere

That big old clock on Main Street
Will it still runs ten minutes slow
And old Jake still shovels sidewalks
Each time we get a little snow
And teenagers sit around the square
‘Neath the streetlamps yellow glow

That big old fir trees all a glitter
Caroler’s songs warm the winter air
People greet you with a wave and smile
Happy holidays they all share
It’s great to walk down Main Street
In our small-town atmosphere
The bells tinkle over the doorways
Of the stores and shops all gaily lit
While the 5 and 10 has a big sale on
Of toy dolls and new baseball mits
And that Santa Claus parade on Thursday
My wasn’t that some kind of hit
Christmas Concert at the school tonight
Holiday songs and children’s plays
Oh Lord don’t it just take you back
To all them wonderful childhood days
Christmas magic in s small-town atmosphere
In so very many special little ways

You just took me back on a very joyous journey, and for that, I truly thank you.
I remember back to those GOOD OLD DAYS, lol, and wish it was like that again, but alas, to the noisy shopping malls we are resigned.
