Ah tis true in Canada we’re a friendly lot

We say hello to everyone we chance to meet

On this day though we all wear the green

And “Top of the morning” to you we all will greet

The baker he came from Lebanon

But wears an apron of the finest green

While the Dutch butcher over on Main St

Wears an Emerald hat like you’ve never seen

And I’m wearing me old knitted sweater

The one me dear mudder made for me

The very shade of Irish shamrocks

I wear proud, for the entire world to see

The German bar is dressed in bunting

With green shamrocks and pots of gold

Little dancing wee people on the window

Sells green beer on tap if you’re so bold

Now Mademoiselle the young French florist

The lass has a twinkle in her Irish eyes

Hands me a bouquet of sweetest Irish heather

I’m telling ye not a word of lies

Cause everyone is Irish on Saint Paddy’s Day

Now the Chinese restaurant on Second Street

Where I went to have me daily meal

On their menu they’ve got Irish stew

They swear on their oath that it is real

Well now I’m back in my wee home

To me English wife I’m going to say

Oh me lassie Saint Patrick should be happy
