Sad when love dies and there is not even the pain left anymore...

Doomed Love

By: Fee

You said you loved me and I said I loved you too

As the lonely years flew by its no longer true

For in my mind I said I don’t love you anymore

Happiness is fleeting so what should I do…

You buried or just threw away all our old memory

Decided I placed last on your list of false priority

I just was never really all that important to you

Just a another page in your life story history

Time, I wished, would someday prove me wrong

Someday never got here, now I’m not so strong

You chipped carelessly away each piece of my heart

Too late to meet me halfway, we no more belong

No loving terms of endearment ever cross our lips

Nor do wanting hands caress the curve of hips

We both sleep, then wake, then just sleep again

Just two polite strangers adrift on passing ships

The saddest thing is that my tears no longer flow

Lonely pain is all that I have left to show…

And the years count down the sorrowed time

As the chimes of doom ring out blow by blow

Sometimes the one we love changes and isn't as loving as before. I wonder why that happens sometimes. Very well written Fee

I think it's less tough to deal with the death of a loved one, than helplessly watching the once shared love to detiriorate.
You spun a lonely feel into this work.

This poem has such a lonely feel to it. This is that forever moment when one must be brave enough to end things. A very emotive piece, Fee. Hugs,

To me Love never dies, but passion can fade if intimacies are not coninually nurtured...I still love people I don't like :)

So very emotive, Fee. The intensity of emotions is vivid and easily felt through your words. What was and is no more...yet they remain together, so very sad. Hugs, Lizzie

I truly FEEL this, Felix. This reaches right to the very bottom of the soul and resounds. This plumbs the darkest depths of that night of the soul which mourns the lack of emotional solace, nurture and reciprocity. Your honest words make glib the saying "better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all". This loss is grievous and, as alway, so well penned. It seems your heart has experienced the whole gamut of human joy and pain at times... and you write it so starkly. Bless you, Pops. Your soul is precious. Kate xx

This is beautiful, though meloncholic, Fee. Your line: "And the years count dwon the sorrowed time as the chimes of doom ring out blow by blow" is the perfect picture of an empty marriage. Really well written.

Rereading this doesnt remove its intensity, power, honesty, sadness or the fact that you feel this everyday and live with it. Really sad but also very effective and well-written for the reader.

Fee, this is powerful and deep...the opposite of love is hate...and I sometimes think being empty of emotion is worse...because it means there's nothing left.

Any lost love is sad in a way... but when it no longer hurts means you have stepped through another door..so maybe it's time that it no longer be sad... The poem is nicely written and one of your best to date... Myrna

Fee, sometimes I think that we are the last of the races that feel sorrow when love's gone. The today crowd goes like bees from flower to flower, no sharing...no responsibility, emotions are just an hinder to one-night-stands. Romeo and Juliet are just for Nana back home.
Your delicate balance between the sorrow of have something taken away and the necessity to scream it from the roof tops gives this poem humanity.
