Well today I sang you a love song

Just a melody from heart to heart

Strummed it on my old six string

Gently as if it might fall apart

I sang of love’s tender kisses

Of walks along a sandy shore

Sang of how I dreamed of you

And wanted you forever more

I sang about our loves promise

Of walking and holding hands

Sang of kisses under mistletoe

4^th of July fireworks and bands

I sang about a dozen red roses,

Wine and soft candlelight aglow

Of diamond rings, other things

Even of watching children grow

I sang of little spats, making up

Sad tears we sometimes wipe away

Holding close what you value most

So love will never want to stray

Finally I laid that old guitar aside

I guess I sang all I had to share
