On Dec 13, I decided to replace some icicle lights hanging from the lanai. They all said "NO", don't climb, wait for some one younger to do it. I tried to be ,SUPER MOM, and here's what happened.........
Cimbing up the ladder high
Climbing up toward the sky
Gotta fix some Christmas lights
So they'll work exactly right
Reach out carefully through the air
Replace burntout bulbs here and there
Coming down I missed two steps
Can you guess what happened next?
The ladder tipped, began to sway
I hung on tightly all the way
I hit the grass with a thud
Luckily it was soft, almost mud
A fractured ankle I sustained
Needless to say, I won't climb again
AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER, AREN'T WE ALL SO GUILTY OF....NOT LISTENING?!? COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH WORSE AND OF COURSE, THANK GOD FOR THE COMPLETE HEALING. BUT THE VERY LAST LINE IS WHAT BROUGHT A CHUCKLE FOR ME...'FOR A WHILE'. AMEN...AND WE PRESS ON, INDEED! THANKS FOR THIS LIGHT AND LIFTING SHARING, MY FRIEND. Mary, it's good to see you back on AD...I've been away some myself but had to take time to read some of these fine AD writers writings. You could have broken your neck...a fractured ankle is bad enough...I do hope you heal soon. Liked this poem, it had lots of excellent images and good rhyme.

WHOOPSIE!! Sorry 'bout the fall; glad you weren't seriously hurt! Glad you can laugh about it; glad I didn't see you fall; if I had, I would have laughed my ass off! Sorry, know that is not nice, but everytime someone falls, and I know they aren't (seriously) hurt, I can't help it! I am just like my grandma in that regard! As an example, my twin sister fell once--on cement, landed on her CHIN--, and I howled! She got mad at me! LOL She said her chin hurt for weeks; she may have had a fracture in her chin! It could have been a lot worse!
