He's small, but mightily watchful, this companion on my desk.
Beady Eyes A sleek aquatic mammal Crafted by Inuits in Alaska Swims atop my desk on a Stack of notes to myself Projects I intend to finish He’s scarred from a fall Or maybe from constant strain Of having to remind me I see him at first light He stares unflinchingly Across his battered nose And though I think “later” His message never varies Just get on with it I pick a note from the pile Stare at it with resignation Replace it in his stack And do something else He tilts on his teetering pond Baleful eyes track me I try my best not to notice But he’s there staring My Seal of Disapproval Charles B. How delightful the reference in this poem and how that little artifact reminds you of how you need to remove the clutter and get down to business.

I'm certainly glad it's not a full size stuffed or skinned version. That would require a much larger desk. ;-)

It is rightly called the inability to shut down your desires to put off until forever what should have been done yesterday. A month ago. Oh! Who knows how long ago? Heh.Heh I understand from personal experience.
